Two US scientists and technology business owners, Dr. Mehdi Hatamian – Founder and CEO of 2Pi-Sigma Corp., and Mr. Hoang Nhu, M.Sc. – Founder and CEO of Nouslogic Telehealth Inc., met with and shared scientific knowledge on strategic technologies, particularly semiconductor chips, at Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology (HCMUT) on the morning of June 19.

The event was attended by Mr. Nguyen Huu Yen – Deputy Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Science and Technology, along with scientists, business representatives and investment funds.

Dr. Mehdi Hatamian has 48 years of experience in semiconductors and chip design, having held numerous senior engineering and leadership positions at Broadcom. He is a member of the National Academy of Engineering and an IEEE Life Fellow. He holds 246 patents, about 90% of which have been commercialized. Mr. Hoang Nhu, meanwhile, has more than 40 years of experience in advanced technology, having held engineering and leadership positions at Hewlett-Packard and Broadcom, where he contributed to SoC chip architecture, developed digital signal processing (DSP) algorithms and carried out tape-outs at TSMC.

Mr. Hoang Nhu's connection with HCMUT dates back to 2008, when he was invited to teach a Digital Signal Processing course at the university. Most recently, in March 2026, he met Prof. Dr. Mai Thanh Phong – President of HCMUT – at the University of California, Irvine as part of Vietnam – US innovation network activities. The meeting further strengthened his ties with HCMUT and paved the way for his return to Vietnam and this exchange.

According to Mr. Hoang Nhu, the visit and working sessions with government agencies and universities in Vietnam come at the right time, as Vietnam is devoting significant attention and resources to developing strategic technologies and to connecting resources, technologies, businesses and the innovation ecosystem. The technologies presented at the event are all strategic fields in which Vietnam has great demand and potential.

At the event, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tran Thien Phuc – Vice President of HCMUT – sincerely thanked the speakers for taking the time to share their knowledge, experience and practical perspectives with scientists, businesses and policymakers.

HCMUT will continue more detailed discussions with the two scientists on potential technology cooperation, while expanding connections with resources, businesses and regulatory agencies, contributing to research, development and technology transfer activities in Vietnam.
